Paralympic athlete April Holmes stopped by POA today to show us her BRONZE medal! She insisted on “sharing” it with Stan! 🙂 Congratulations, April!!!
Great article on 39-year-old April Holmes, who is set to compete in the 2012 Paralympics, and fully intends to win both the 100 and 200-meter sprints. This will be April’s third Paralympics. She competed in the 2004 Athens games, and won a bronze medal in the long jump. In the 2008 Beijing games, she was in first place when she stumbled and fell. POA patient Amazzzzzing Anthony Burruto, a bilateral AK/BK amputee, competed against able-bodied athletes in the USAPL (USAPOWERLIFTING) competition. He entered into the Varsity & the Junior 16&17’s divisions. Not only did Anthony perform well, he broke both records, set new ones, and was awarded two Gold medals and a trophy!! Needless to say, there is already talk about the 2016 Paralympics in Rio!
